    1. I loved this book. My wife bought it for me for Christmas the year it came out and I devoured it in less than a week. I have been a KISS fan since their inception back in the early '70's and have read everything I could get my hands on about them, "authorized" or not. This book starts at the beginning and works its way to the reunion tour that started in 1996. It has a complete discography, which I loved. I am getting ready to read it again as soon as I get through some of the recent books I have [...]

    2. A great book telling the tale of the Hottest Band in the World! There are many things that I did not know contained within these pages. Kiss has always been heroes of mine and it was a little painful to hear the bickering and fighting going on backstage. No one wants to know that their heroes are real flesh and blood! One thing I would like to have read was more comments by Ace and Peter. I also wished that it had more quotes from Eric Carr. Over all an enlightening story of one of the most infl [...]

    3. Even though I thought I knew the entire history of KISS, I enjoyed re-learning the things I already knew while finding out a lot I didn't know. The best part of the book for me, though, was the album-by-album rundown of the entire catalog (through the Psycho Circus album), with anecdotes from Gene and Paul. This volume is a perfect complement to the UNauthorized biography, Black Diamond, by Dale Sherman.

    4. AMAZING BOOK it's all about how KISS raised to fame from being nothing to becoming the "Hottest Band in the World". The book is divided into parts which is really cool. It talks about the band's fame, cool road stories, other people's affection by the band, and the whole story from beginning to "now". Loved it it's a true inspiration.IF YOU ARE A KISS FAN YOU MUST READ IT.

    6. I liked the first part of the book as it seemed to flow pretty well. However, there were some mistakes that were a bit annoying. The problems start with part two and got worse going into part three. There was very little continuity and a lot of repetition. In fact, if that was really bad, Gene and Paul dominate most of the lines, which made things worse. While I was never a Kiss Army guy, I like a lot of their early music. What this book desperately needed was more from Peter and Ace and some of [...]

    7. I can't believe it took me over a month to read this book. I'm an avid reader and I can blow through pretty much any book in record time. But this one took 3 days over a month. Yikes. The book at first sight is a little misleading. It's actually 3 books in one. That wasn't the problem. It was the text itself which smaller than usual and each page seemed to be jammed a little bit tighter than normal with regards to kerning and tracking for the written word. Okay, enough with the boring stuff. Sin [...]

Enter Paul Stanley, the acrobatic Starchild, Gene Simmons, the fire breathing Demon, Ace Frehley, the axe slinging Space Ace, and Peter Criss, The levitating Catmane band have been together for over 42 years and now they have come together to reveal their story of how the band was created and how they succeeded over the years as a group. The most famous of the band was Gen [...]

    11. Overall, I'd give this book 3.5/5. I really enjoyed it, but I have a few problems with it. My main issue is that the concept was originally David Leaf's, and then Ken Sharp came along and read the manuscript and wanted to collaborate. The final product, although it was Leaf's original concept, is 1/3 Leaf and 2/3 Sharp. Section 1 is David Leaf's original manuscript (with spelling corrections and whatnot). I thought this was the best section of the book. Definitely 4/5 stars just for this section [...]

    12. Well. I really like the book so far. It's about their beginnings and how they started out. It tells about all the members when they were growing up and tellsx about their childhood mand how they got into music. When Paul and Gene, guitarist and bassist form a band that eventually fails, they recruit the drummer, Peter, into a new band. Then they find Ace, the lead guitarist, and form the band fullyWhen they are on the road, it's very hard beacause they are putting all this money into the show an [...]

    13. This book is a good read for any KISS fan. It's pretty obvious that the book's purpose was to give fans an insight into the greatest band in the world, KISS. Their wasn't really a theme to it besides, like I wrote earlier, it gives insight into the greatest band in the world. The style of the book was a description since all it was doing was explaining about KISS, which was pretty effective since the authors were basically describing events from KISS' view. The writer's opinion is obvious becaus [...]

    14. This book is about everything that kiss did on their way to stardom from how they came together to what inspired their music. It is almost everything about them starting at their childhood. They have every gig, movie, song, and album they have ever made.I liked this book because it was about kiss and they did some really weird stuff while on tour. It has everything that makes them what they are. They even explain how they developed the stunts they do on stage from fire-breathing to the smoking g [...]

    15. This book was a lot of fun! It brought back memories of growing up a KISS fan. The stories behind the individual songs and albums were very entertaining. And I was surprised to see the names of other not-yet-discovered artists as co-writers of some KISS classics. Instead of just being another sex and drugs tell-all, this book focused more on the music and the creative process behind all those songs we love.

    16. The first third is David Leaf's unpublished biography from the 70s, the next third is the band and others talking about the phases of their career, and the last third is the band members and others commenting on every song from each of their albums. Being an authorized bio, I was expecting an all-positive scam, but there's plenty of bad blood out in the open, and that's good. It's a good read, especially if you're curious about what the hell Kiss was all about.

    17. I've been a Kiss fan since the 70's, and though I know lot about this band, there was a lot I didn't know. I particularly liked the band members critiquing the records track by track. Wish there was more from Ace and Eric Carr. And my opinion of Peter Criss took a dive. I thought Gene Simmons was self centered, but Peter Criss is worse.

    18. The book is divided into three parts. The first part was obviously written in 1979 and portrays the band at their most raw. It was at the cusp when they were both at the apex of their popularity but also at their most fragile. This os this as 180 AD for the hottest band in the land. Some very interesting anecdotes spread throughout the book. This is the group at their most candid.

    19. This book is awesome for both the big KISS fan or a casual listener. In addition to learning some great KISStory straight from the people that were involved you also get a breakdown of each album. I will be reading this book over & over again.

    20. The book is comprised of two separate manuscripts. The first was pretty good and the second was ok. I wanted to know more about the band and not really what they thought of their collection of albums. (the entire second half was devoted to this). Nice pictures that I hadn't seen before.

    21. This is a fascinating look at the history of the band. What is nice is the first half of the book was written in the late 70's and well before the KISS merchandising machine became bigger than the band. Interesting insight into both the band's rise and its members.

    23. Didn't love how this book was put together. Two different authors, split into three different parts. The last section was an album by album, song by song, breakdown. It was difficult to finish. But I still love KISS.
