    1. Too sugary sweet in places and very little conflict to keep me engrossed in the characters. I also don't like women who deliberately set out to embarrass and make fools of a man when they first meet them. The heroine in this might be 'sassy' but she came across as too full of her own cleverness whereas the 'poor dumb cowboy' deserved someone with less 'sass' and a bit more common sense. It was all too easy, too perfect, and I got fed up of reading about Birdies sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls i [...]

    2. This was cute. I enjoyed it. I thought the characterization was great. And I didn't notice any annoying grammatical errors. I wasn't looking too hard, though, as I read this while terribly sick and in need of distraction (it worked, thanks!). I obtained this as a kindle freebie a while ago. Some readers might want to avoid this if easy resolution and some insta-love are personal pet peeves.

    3. This Western romance worked for me on so many levels. Lillian (Lil) Mae Wentfield is a pariah to her wealthy, aristocratic parents: Smart, independent, highly educated in law by her uncle and totally devoid of the domestic skills expected of ladies in that era. She plans to remain a spinster and practice her craft in a small Colorado town. However, behind her brittle and haughty exterior is a woman with a fragile heart who craves to love and be loved. Drew Jackson owns an emerging ranch near tha [...]

    6. What an great Western Romance!!I usually have good and bad things to say about a book. Or, rather, likes & dislikes. My ONLY dislike is the lack of an epilogue, because I wanted to ear about the babies Lil & Drew have! ☺☺Even though church was mentioned once by Birdie, love, generosity, kindness, & compassion are all encompassed in this witty, sweet 1880's romance. As a Christian, I look for clean books that I can be happy to keep around without fear of my granddaughters reading [...]

    7. Lil leaves her family in Denver to move to Chesterfield, Colorado, to open her own law practice. She's one of a handful of lady lawyers in the country. Before she has even opened for business she has her first two customers, one a local rancher accused of cattle rustling. She figures out a way to save him and ends up falling in love with Drew.I loved this story. The characters are well defined. Lil is outspoken and feisty. Drew is a product of his times but he begins to see where he may be wrong [...]

    8. A Very Enjoyable StoryThis is a story set in the West before 1900. This is a favorite genre of mine and I alternate them with books that require more thought and reflection. "Feel good books" as I call them let me get away from the stress of life. The author did a great job and I could imagine knowing all the characters from the proper, stuffy parents to the charming little girl. A young female lawyer is the main character, in a time and place where few would have had the courage to go. She is f [...]

Just enjoyed the check out if this story & learnt a few things tooWhen I first started this book -- it had been some time since I had read the synopsis -- I thought it was about a woman doctor. But i is about a woman lawyer, one of the first in Colorado. I chuckled more than once and fell in love with the characters. Alkalinity two, no make that three, of them.I will tell you nothing else. I don't want to spoil it what a fun read. A feel-good read. Wish I had a cup of coffee and a plate size [...]

    10. Independence Lil had been raised to be independent and had, with the help of an uncle, become a lawyer. Being a female lawyer, in a small Colorado town was not an easy task. Clients were a bit skeptical, but acceptance was there. Drew is a local cowboy, who is building his ranch. An interesting cast of characters, a fun story.

    11. Comeuppance deservedIt's always good to see someone put in their place though it doesn't always happen when or how we believe it should be. The headstrong lawyer and rogueish cowboy are no exception when she finally puts her foot down on her overbearing parents and they see the truth of how a life together will really be. A romance for the ages!

    12. Honest Independent lady, cowboy looking for a lawyer, what she did to help him,the people of the town accepting her,and love at 1st sight for both. I couldn't put this book down and it was funny and if cheered when she kicked her parents out of her house. Finding people that love her for herself.

    13. Lil is a lawyer and her parents are embarrassed by her. They agree that she should move away from home to a small town and hand out her shingle. She buys a house and sets up her practice. Drew comes to her as a client for cattle rustling. She comes up with a way to prove him innocent. But they like each other but each thinks they can't offer what the other needs

    14. This was a free book and my first from this Author. It was a sweet story in a lot of ways but the way the Hero has of cussing in front of the young lady that he's falling in love with at such a fast pace, was very much a huge thing not done in that day and time. I found it a distracting and unnecessary addition to the sugary sweetness of the book. It felt very out of place.

    15. I liked the spunk of the heroine in this one. The hero didn't seem so strong, but you could tell he loved people. The plot was great and showed how confident the heroine was, although to herself she was questioning things. Both the people and the plot were believable and I could see it happening. Well done to the author on such an original work.

    16. So-soLots of repetition, development of romantic feelings was rushed and unbelievable. Couple on the train was predictable. I hurried to get through this book. I could have easily just stopped reading, but I was giving it a chance.

    20. A fine woman indeedThe tale expresses very well how fixed ideas and stereotypes are ignorant and stultifying. It also shows how partnerships work when both partners are aware of the true value of things.
