    1. THE PLACE I BELONG (A Whisper Horse Novel) by Nancy Herkness. Nancy Herkness continues delivering superb romance, this time featuring the All-in-Black charmer Chef Adam Bosch, successful owner of The Aerie, an elite restaurant in the area. Hannah, a kind hearted city girl, wants to find a fresh start to leave behind an ex-fiancé and other problems as she finds a job working as a vet in Sanctuary. But issues in the past catch up with her, which may affect those around her. Topics in this story i [...]

    3. I loved this third book in the Whisper Horse Series by Nancy Herness. Hannah Linden is a veterinarian who ends up in Sanctuary, WV after a professional scandal. She meets up with Adam Bosch, the reclusive owner of the restaurant, The Aerie. Adam has just been given custody of a son about whom he knew nothing. Enter Satchmo, a rescue horse, who just might be the whisper horse for Matt. I really enjoyed meeting the two main characters in this story as well as seeing the characters from the first t [...]

    5. Dollycas’s ThoughtsShe did it again. Nancy Herkness continues to write books I quickly find myself lost in. This whole Whisper Horse theme touches me. I wish I had a whisper horse!!All the main characters in this story are broken. Hannah was blamed for something any caring person who have done and the man that is supposed to love her turns his back on her. Adam had a very rough upbringing and his self esteem is lower than low. He tries to escape into his work but knows something is missing. Ma [...]

    6. I bought this as a Kindle special as it had good reviews, and I'm always a sucker for books which feature horses. It's a romance with a tall, dark and handsome hero and an intelligent, capable blonde heroine. Who could ask for more? The relationship between the characters is well balanced, with each bringing a positive element into the life of the other. The teenage son is well portrayed, as are the various minor characters - the friends and acquaintances. I also enjoyed the setting, a small, fr [...]

    7. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the dynamic of between the single father struggling to find a way to connect with his son, and the father's struggles with believing himself worthy of happiness. I also loved that the whisper horse in this book was a whisper pony, and that the heroine was a veterinarian. Nancy created very relatable, lovable characters, both the humans and the animals, and I found I could not put the book down! I highly recommend the entire series. I love books that deal with [...]

    8. Ups & downs with great foodThis story tackles some difficult subject matter and I'm not ashamed to say that I did shed a tear or two. There where ups and downs and plenty of great food. Also, a young man with an uncertain future and to much loss. This is a lesson in love, loss, fighting for what's right, fighting for the ones you love & belief in yourself. Well worth reading.

    11. REVIEW OF SERIESAny native West Virginian knows every word of John Denver’s legendary hit and can sing the lyrics from the time they can follow the tune and form the words (or near sounds). “Take me home, country roads, to the place I belong. West Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads.” Driving down the back lanes of the winding mountain roads you can almost hear the strains of the banjos and guitars blowing with the wind through your hair as it whistles through open windows [...]

    12. Whisper HorseAnother heartfelt story. A lovely veterinarian looking to rebuild her life in a town aptly named Sanctuary and a flawed man feeling a need for redemption. I love Nancy's books. She brings warmth and delight with a little bit of sizzle.

    13. 3.5 StarsThis is the third book I’ve read in this Whisper Horse series and I’m finding each one a little bit better than the previous one. A brief intro; there is a woman who is an expert in riding and she runs kind of a horse sanctuary place for old and unwanted horses. She believes that certain people who are needing something have a certain horse just waiting to be needed – a whisper horse as it were. This is the story of Hannah Linden a veterinarian who has come to the small town of San [...]

    14. Not only is the cover beautiful and enticing it’s very appropriate for this story that takes place in Sanctuary, West Virginia. Hannah Linden is the new vet that Dr. Tom Arbuckle hired to work in his practice so he would be able to spend more time with his wife Claire and travel some. Hannah left a professional scandal and a broken engagement behind and is down with men. Adam Bosch is a handsome famous chef and owner of the Aerie Restraunt on top of the Two Creek Mountain. Trace, Adams ex poli [...]

    15. Veterinarian Hannah Linden came to Sanctuary to escape from professional scandal (a false accusation) and a broken engagement. She likes the small town hidden in the mountains, and enjoys working with large animals again. When she first meets world-famous chef and restauranteur Adam Bosch, his charm repulses her---too reminiscent of her ex-fiance. Yet every time she encounters Adam, she is increasingly drawn to him. Adam, a recovering alcoholic who has been sober for nine years, is struggling to [...]

It has a good story to it, grabs you from the beginning, and wants you to read to the end to see how things come out. It is a nice fiction romance with some mystery and horses mixed in. I enjoyed reading the book! 19. Great love story!Whisper horses! If only there were such a thing. The authors writing makes you feel as though you are there living amongst the characters. She uses imaginative story lines and plots that are real and could have happened to anyone of us. You find out that someone has kept a secret from you that affects your whole life and sends you spiralling down a rabbit hole. You just want [...]

    20. I Love an alcoholicI enjoyed this book . It certainly kept my attention due the comments about the feelings of Adam, the Alcoholic. About six years ago, my son fought to keep his children after their mother kidnapped them and took them away from him. The judge ruled in her favor and a divorce followed. She stated she feared him. He never hit or threaten them. He is 6' 3" and she was 5 feet. When he drank he was a different person. He had gotten 2 DUI s and was not pleasant when he had any alcoho [...]

    21. Loved this book and I am going to try and find copies of the first two books in this series. Adam Bosch owns the famous Aerie Restaurant in town. He is a recovering alcoholic. He recently finds out he has a 13 year old son who comes to live with him after his mom dies. Matt filled with resentment towards Adam fights him every step of the way. Hannah comes to Sanctuary to make a new start after she has problems at work and her ex-fiance. She finds a vet job and falls in love with the town and the [...]

    22. I just discovered Nancy Herkness and read the Whisper Horse series books back-to-back. They were all great, but this one is my favorite. So many things are just a little bit different than the usual romance novel. I loved Adam, Hannah, Adam's son Matt, dog Trace, and horse Satchmo. Adam is an expert chef, and I loved the way food and spices were woven into the story. The story conflicts were real and serious and the struggles the characters faced were handled intelligently and with realism. Adam [...]

    23. Best one in this series thus far!Best one in this series thus far!Nancy Herkness outdid herself with this latest addition to her Whisper Horse series. She handled the serious issue of alcoholism & the death of a parent with compassion. The interaction between Hannah and Matt made me laugh and had a very realistic touch to it. The entire novel seemed true to life. Adam & Hannah's connection could be felt throughout & had me riding the emotions along with the characters. Being able to [...]

    24. This is not a clean romance. I was not aware of the sexual parts of this book, until I was well into it, or I would have taken it off of my kindle. I was drawn to this book by the story of the vet, the boy, who went to live with a father he didn't know, and the horse, who was morning his stable mate. Those are the things that kept me listening to this book. I ran the book forward to bypass the sexual parts. Those parts ruined the feeling I had for this book, and I would have given it more stars [...]

    25. This book has stayed with me a long time since finishing it. The realistic portrayal of Adam as a recovering alcoholic was impressive. The book was not preachy, but wove his alcoholism into the story. Hannah was also nursing emotional wounds from a recent broken engagement plus an unfair portrayal of her in the Chicago press. She wanted to hide by moving to a small town in West Virginia and work as a veterinarian with both large and small animals. Neither one of them believed they were worthy of [...]

    26. I Love this series. I wish Herkness would come into the 21st cetury and stop referring to pants as "trousers", my Grandma might be unbuttoned a fee trousers in her day, but in my day, men wear jeans, or pants. anyway- I like the relationship that gets built up between the main characters and that the bulk of the focus remains on them, with some horse story thrown in. These books are dripping with sentiment. I would say on a steamy scale from 1-10, Herkness writes at a cool 3, but it's fine, beca [...]

    27. Could it get any hotter???? Lordy, lordy! I truly believe that this novel is now my favorite of the three full length novels in the series. How could you not fall in love with a pony and his boy? This novel stole my heart and I have not gotten it back yet. Adam and Hannah are portrayed as complete opposites, yet they both are running from their pasts. They each help the other, however they don't realize how much help they have been to each other until the end. Getting ready to read the novella n [...]

    28. As usual, Nancy Herkness did NOT disappoint! I love all of her books (I have only read the Whisper Horse series). I think this one was my favorite. I love the characters in this book, love the storyline, love how the romance entertwines with the true storyline of the book. I never wanted to put it down - and I certainly never wanted it to end. I would love to continue to "visit" with these characters - and the location! I can't wait for the next book in this series to come out!

    29. A sensual and touching story about two people who are destined to help each other recover from bad experiences in their past. He is a recovering alcoholic, now a famous chef and restaurateur who learns he has a teenage son. She is a caring vet who flees to a small mountain town after being wrongfully accused of killing a beloved pet. Both bond over a boy, a horse and a dog. It is a satisfying, cold night with a glass of wine read. Enjoy.

    30. Cute. Heartwarming - especially for the animal loverIt wasn't my favorite read, and I found myself a bit bored at times. I love animals, but wouldn't consider myself crazy about this. It's my own fault, I should have guessed with it being of the "horse whisperer" variety My favorite character was Matt, and I truly enjoyed the relationship & bond between he and Hannah. The ending really tugged at my heartstrings.
