    1. I enjoyed reading The Apartment in Rome, which shows a side of Rome not normally seen and is not the light, easy to read romance that you would expect from the cover. Instead of the usual places one would expect to feature in a story based in such a beautiful city, the focus of this book, apart from the apartment in the title, is the plight of the asylum seekers camping in Rome; the conditions in which they live and their daily struggle for survival. 2. The cover is absolutely stunning, and I was instantly caught by the description on the back…it had me intrigued about the story and I could not wait to start!I thoroughly enjoyed this! Normally when you think of Italy you think of beautiful tou [...]

    4. As Italy is the top of my wishlist places to visit, the title of this novel immediately appealed to me. After looking at the cover and reading the blurb on the back, I expected a usual run of the mill chick lit book and was completely surprised at the darker side of life and love that is portrayed in this fantastic read. At the beginning of the book we are introduced to Gina who works as a photographer and is in a complicated relationship with her married lover who also happens to be her landlor [...]

    5. I should've known better, really, but I'm abroad and the English language sections of bookshops are somewhat limited. I chose this because it's about an English girl in Italy and since that's exactly what I am I thought I might be able to relate. *SPOILER* I don't relate. The story is ridiculous and implausible and the characters feel forced and unreal. What 15-year-old British girl would say 'I thought I did, truly.' unless she was acting in a Jane Austen adaptation? Also minus several points f [...]
