    1. This book is a bit more difficult to read than Anne Phillips' previous book Engendering Democracy despite of dealing with fairly the same topics. You can see the development of Phillips' thought: the exposition of her own ideas is more conceptual and "philosophical" -so to speak, without relying that much on other theorists.
