    2. Dr. Alistair Woodbury has arrived in Fool’s Gold for a visit with his friend and colleague, Dr. Simon Bradley (Only Yours, September 2011). Unfortunately, one of Alistair’s vaccinations didn’t take, and he’s infected with measles, thanks to an outbreak among the children in the Southeast Asian village he’s just left. Simon may be a good friend, but since his wife Montana is seven months pregnant, he’s not about to risk her exposure to the disease. Alistair will have to find somewhere [...]

    3. Sweet and short (just 49 pages) story about a visiting doctor and the "angel" that nursed him back to health. Alistair had come to Fool's Gold to visit Simon and Montana (Only Yours), but he has come down with the measles and Montana's pregnant so he can't stay with them. Paige offers to take him in and cares for him through his illness.I really liked both Alistair and Paige. Alistair is a British doctor who travels the world caring for the underprivileged. He lost his wife and daughter in an ac [...]

    4. Almost SummerThis e-book novella is part of Mallery’s Fool’s Gold series. When Alistair’s visit to his friend, Simon, endangers Simon’s wife, Montana’s pregnancy (he has the measles), Paige offers Alistair a place to stay and nurses his back to health. Paige is still in mourning for her Aunt, who she grew up with after her parent’s deaths. Paige has always wanted to see the world, but feels stuck in Fool’s Gold, so she turns to Alistair, whose stories about travelling all over the [...]

    6. Only thing that could have made this better is if it had been a full length book rather than a novella.

    8. What a beautiful story about two people not particularly looking for love, but finding it accidentally. This novella is about Paige and Alistair. Paige has always lived in Fool's Gold and has always wanted to travel the world yet always wouldn't leave her Aunt Sophie. Now, she has the chance to yet doesn't make that step.Alistair has always been a world traveler helping those in need with his surgical/medical knowledge. That is until he becomes very ill with the measles and lands himself in Fool [...]

    9. This quick short was fun and just what the Fool's Gold stories are about. I thought their first meeting was funny, but even funnier was Alister thinking that Paige was an angel. The town dropping by with all sorts of food had me laughing. The frank man to man talk between Alister and Simon was something I didn't expect, but thought it was great. The ending was perfect as it fit them both.

    13. Not gonna read another short story for a while Sometimes they're wonderful but more often they're mediocre. This one was okay and I liked it well enough but it wasn't anything special. Feel like I should have cared about the characters more but I just didn't.

    23. This review was originally posted to Jen in BooklandAlmost Summer falls into the novella trap. The everything is going great, I am loving the book, then suddenly everything happens and it is just over way too quickly. That is the novella trap. Wrapping things up when it feels like it is just to keep it a novella instead of turning into a novel. When it feels like the story is just quickly finished so it will be over instead of telling the whole story. The story started and I was loving it! Paige [...]

    24. Reviewed on atastyreadThis novella has it all: a quirky heroine, a sexy, British hero and an adorable story involving measles, emotional pain and finding love again.I know this is a very quick read, but for what it was, I LOVED IT!! It could have a lot to do with Alistair Woodbury, our hero, who is actually royalty in England, but works as a doctor over boarders helping children with rare diseases. He is handsome, intelligent and has been all over the world. Of course Paige McLean would be attra [...]

    25. 3.9-4.2 Stars. Public Library 7/6/15. Alistair is visiting his friend Simon when he comes down with the measles and has to stay somewhere else. Paige was on her way to visit her very pregnant friend Montana where she runs into a man on their sidewalk telling her to keep away. This being Fool's Gold she invites him home to help him get over the measles. Through his measles haze and recovery they fall in love. I've read several of the full length books in this series but this is my first short sto [...]

    26. Very good for a Novella. My only complaint is that the story was so short, meaning that the character and relationship development was too quick. I loved Paige from page one! Her fun and light attitude, her heart, her sense of humor, and her confidence are immediate draws. And the crazy situation her and Alistair get thrown into is pure entertainment. Alistair is a friend, and past co-worker, of Simon who has come to town for a visit with Simon and his pregnant wife Montana. Simon immediately di [...]

    27. Alistair made an impression on me in Only Yours so even though it had been some time since, I remembered him immediately when I started reading.Like Simon, Alistair has been carrying some baggage as he goes through life and after hearing from Simon about his new life in Fool's Gold, he decided to come over for a visit and see for himself.Alistair is just so absolutely charming and sweet and so British. I loved how his character was being written. It's certainly no wonder that Paige would be swep [...]

    28. I continue to love everything about Fool's Gold and Susan Mallery did not disappoint with this novella. This is Dr. Alistair Woodbury's story. He is the good friend of Dr. Simon Bradley who married Montana Hendrix in book 5. He had been invited to visit Fool's Gold, but unfortunately shows up in town with the measles. The town's lovely Paige McLean takes him in and cares for him for several days while he recovers. His british charm and world travels are too much for her to resist of course. Once [...]
